Weight Loss with Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist exerts its main effect by stimulating glucose-dependent insulin release from the pancreatic islets. Thishas also been shown to slow gastric emptying, inhibit inappropriate post-meal glucagon release, and reduce food intake.

This protocol is shown to acclimate the body to the effects of the medication and promote weight loss through reduced caloric intake. This agent DOES NOT cause low blood sugars or hypoglycemia.

The side effects of GLP-1-based therapies are predominantly gastrointestinal, particularly nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, which are frequent. Other possible but uncommon side effects are Acute pancreatitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, anaphylaxis, injection site sensitivity, thrombocytopenia, progression of thyroid cancers if present.


Dosing Schedule:

  1. Schedule is broken up into weeks with incremental dosing.
  2. You Do Not have to increase to full dose if the effect is present.
  3. You can maintain on any dose that helps to continue weight loss.
  4. Follow schedule as per protocol and be mindful of side effects.
  5. We will draw up the syringes prior to visit - keep in refrigerator at home.

Dosing:

  1. Week 1-4: 0.25mg Subcutaneous (Subq) once a week - $200/mo
  2. Week 5-8: 0.5mg Subq once a week - $350/mo
  3. Week 9-12: 1.0mg Subq once a week - $425/mo
  4. Week 13-16: 1.7mg Subq once a week - $550/mo
  5. Week 17-maintain: 2.4mg Subq once a week - $800/mo

Maintenance: 2.4mg Subq weekly

We recommend the following:

  1. Labs - you will need complete metabolic panel and thyroid panel along with CBC and lipids - in office draw - $150 for labs and $100 for blood draw.
  2. Initial consultation - $250.
  3. Weight check prior and Weekly - f/u visits in office for weight check - $50-100/visit
  4. Repeat labs in 3 months after - $150
  5. In office Injections - $35
  6. Additional prescription for other meds for symptoms - $150 - this includes the office visit.
